Why this matters here
Laredo sits in zone 9b with roughly three hundred growing days. That is a long season by any standard, and it puts real fruit production within reach for an ordinary back yard.
Most landscaping here ignores that completely and installs the same shrub palette you would see in Dallas, watered twice as hard to keep it alive. We would rather use what this climate actually rewards.
