Landscape Design & Installation

Outdoor spaces designed around what actually survives Laredo.

South Texas Gardener seal

Most landscaping that fails in Laredo failed at the plant list. Nursery stock chosen for a wetter, milder part of Texas looks fine through a mild spring and is gone by the second August. We design around plants proven in zone 9b heat, alkaline caliche soil, and a rainfall pattern that will not carry a thirsty bed on its own.

That covers a single bed refresh through a full front yard rebuild: layout, plant selection, soil prep, edging and installation, with drainage and irrigation thought through before anything goes in the ground.

What’s included

  • Site walk and plan before a single plant is bought
  • Plant palette chosen for your sun, soil and water budget
  • Bed shaping, edging and soil amendment over caliche
  • Tree and shrub placement with mature size accounted for
  • Drought-tolerant and xeriscape options that still look designed
  • Free design preview image so you see it before you commit

Caliche is the constraint nobody plans for

Dig much of Laredo and you hit caliche, a hard alkaline layer water does not move through the way roots expect. A hole cut into it becomes a bathtub: it holds water, roots sit wet, and the plant declines slowly enough that people blame the nursery a year later.

The fix is planning around it rather than pretending it is not there. That means breaking through where it makes sense, raising beds where it does not, choosing plants that tolerate high pH, and grouping by water need so the thirsty things share a zone instead of being scattered through the yard.

Serving North Laredo, San Isidro, Del Mar, Plantation, La Bota Ranch, South Laredo and the rest of Laredo.

How it works

Common questions

Landscape Design and Installation FAQs

How much does landscape design cost in Laredo?

It depends entirely on scope, so we quote after a site visit rather than guessing over the phone. A bed refresh and a full front yard rebuild are very different jobs. The estimate and the design preview are both free and the quote is itemized.

Can you work with the plants I already have?

Usually, yes. If something is healthy and in the right spot we design around it, and if it can be saved by moving it we will move it. There is no reason to tear out a mature plant that is doing well in this climate.

Is xeriscaping a good idea in Laredo?

For most yards here, some version of it is. It does not have to mean gravel and cactus. Grouping by water need, using adapted and native plants, and mulching properly cuts irrigation sharply while still looking like a designed landscape.
